The Copperas Cove city council approved a professional services agreement with Lockwood, Andrews and Newman, Inc. (LAN), for the design, bidding and construction-phase services for the Courtney Lane and Golf Course Road Drainage Improvements Project.

The amount is for $176,925 and is funded via the 2025 annual certificate of obligation bonds.

LAN will oversee the design and bidding portion of the project, as well as the construction phase. This project is yet to be designed and bids let. Thes projects are part of the city’s drainage Master Plan, which noted that runoff from the upstream House Creek Storm Watershed flows in large quantities during storm events, leading to erosion control needs, channel clearing and rehabilitation in those areas.

The drainage work involves three parts, for the drainage ditch from Courtney Lane to North 17th Street, as well as the ditch between North 17th Street and Lincoln Avenue, and replacing the grate inlet with junction box and connecting the existing stormwater system to alleviate localized flooding at the area of Golf Course Road and Texas Street.

The council also approved the Second Amendment to the City’s Transportation Services Agreement to transport municipal solid waste and recyclable materials with Comal Transportation, L.L.C.

It also approved the execution of an agreement with Baylor Scott and White Clinic for the Copperas Cove Fire Department/EMS. Douglas Matthijetz, Fire Chief
