Nikki Whitworth-Reazola is excited to be bringing her nonprofit’s annua event home to Copperas Cove.
The 5th annual Karaoke for a Cause, All Makes & Models Car & Bike Show, and Beard and Stache Charity competition runs April 11-13.
100 percent of the proceeds will go to the Not Rich, But Enriched. The nonprofit specializes in volunteerism, and has held basketball camps for kids, and operates the Sincerely, Soldier initiative.
For the past several years, the event was held in Nolanville, but Reazola has been determined to bring it to Copperas Cove, where she owns and operates The Bookstore Barber Salon.
“I’m a resident, I’m a business owner, and at the end of the day, even though us going over there, and we’re raising money for nonprofits, which is the whole goal of this, at the end of the day, it’s not turning around or doing anything for Copperas Cove. That was always my goal,” Whitworth-Reazola said.
Karaoke kicks off the weekend on Friday evening at the Cove Theater in downtown Copperas Cove. For $20, singers can compete for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place, with trophies going to those winners. The evening goes from 5-10 p.m. Signups can be done that evening but singers are encouraged to complete a Jotform ahead of time at https://form.jotform.com/250837241445153.
Then on Saturday, Aprill 12, the main event takes place at Cove Terrace Shopping Center where registration starts at 11 a.m. and is $25 per category for the car and bike show.
The Beard & Stache competition kicks off at 1 p.m., and Whitworth-Reazola said there are competitors coming from throughout the United States to compete for the cause. One of the judges is coming from Minnesota. Anyone is welcome to enter – even women in the “Whiskerina Creative” and “Whiskerina Natura”. Other categories include Kids Creative, Chops, Freestyle, Best Groomed, Goatee, Styled Stache, Best Under 4, 8, and 12 inches, and Best Over 12 Inches.
Along with the beard and stach show, there will be a “Classy Pinup” contest during the afternoon, as well as a lineup of food trucks and vendors.
As a stylist, Whitworth-Reazola said she has been involved in the competitive bearding community since 2017. The competitive bearding community is a community that likes to give back.
“They just do it to give back, and I think that’s beautiful,” she said.
Whitworth-Reazola said the event is also welcoming other local nonprofits to have a spotlight for a few moments during Saturday’s schedule of events. They only need to complete a form at https://form.jotform.com/250814928841160 and they will be given a brief opportunity to speak about their mission.
“I think the one thing that I’m really excited about for the event is that we’re including other nonprofits to be able to speak about themselves,” she said. “We want to bring awareness, because there’s so many nonprofits we have no clue even exists here.”
She added that spotlighting nonprofits also fits into her nonprofit’s focus on menta heath.
The weekend wraps up on Sunday starting at 10 a.m. with a donation waffle bar at Copperas Cove Creative Space, located at 115 E. Avenue E.
In the event of rain on Saturday, April 12, Reazola said the event will be moved to downtown Copperas Cove and the beard and stache competition along with the vendors will be set up inside Copperas Cove Creative Space.
