A 68-year-old Copperas Cove man died at the scene of a two-vehicle crash on F.M. 116 North on Wednesday morning.

Scott Blair Fraser of Copperas Cove was driving a 2015 Nissan Sentra headed northbound, when around 6:56 a.m., the 26-year-old male driver of a 2025 Honda Civic headed southbound lost control of the vehicle.

“Investigation determined the driver of the Honda was traveling at an unsafe speed for the damp roadway, causing the vehicle to lose control. The Honda crossed into the northbound lane and collided with the Nissan,” said Sgt. Bryan Washko with the Texas Department of Public Safety.

“Fraser was pronounced deceased at the scene by Justice of the Peace Coy Latham. The driver of the Honda was transported to Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Temple with incapacitating injuries.”

DPS called it a “major” two-vehicle crash that shut down the roadway in both directions for hours.

Washko said the crash investigation remains active and ongoing and next of kin have been notified.
