The Copperas Cove Economic Development Corporation board of directors accepted and approved a contract for the purchase of the EDC’s property at 201 S. 2nd Street during their meeting Wednesday afternoon.
The property has been the location of the city’s Farmer’s Market for the past few years. The EDC was approached by someone interesting in purchasing the property, and the buyer was told to “make an offer” because there was no set price for the property.
During the board’s January 2022 meeting, it made a motion to move forward on the item discussed during executive session, which was the negotiation of the contract.
The contract is for $41,000, and the buyer is Angela Schwausch.
Vice Chairman Joey Acfalle abstained from voting on this item, and Rick Kirkpatrick made the motion, which was seconded by Elizabeth Ruszkiewicz.

The lot with the concrete slab was the site of the former Coryell County Annex before a land swap between the EDC and County in 2017, between this location and a building at 210 S. 1st Street that the Copperas Cove EDC owned.  The building on South 1st Street became the Coryell County Justice Center and currently houses the Justices of the Peace.
The EDC’s Board of Directors determined that the EDC had no intentions to move into that building due to several reasons, including the cost of renovation, and the building was demolished in 2019.
