With Copperas Cove being adjacent to Fort Hood, Copperas Cove businesses now have the opportunity to join together and show their collective support for military service members and their families.

The Copperas Cove Chamber of Commerce announced on Wednesday the launch of the Yellow Ribbon Community Program.

“Fort Hood has a military strength of nearly 36,000 soldiers and airmen and nearly 53,000 family members, providing a large consumer base for local businesses and organizations,” chamber president Alicia Menard stated in a press release.

The Yellow Ribbon Community Program consists of a chamber webpage where the discounts or savings from local business will be posted. Chamber membership is not necessary to join the program, but there are a few stipulations.

First, a business must have a local store or physical location of business, and that all discounts featured on the website must be honored. Excluded items for discounts are things such as tobacco products/e-cigarettes/vape products; alcohol products (over the counter or with meal discount offers); and sexually suggestive or adult oriented products and/or material.

Otherwise, the types, values and/or discount amounts are at the discretion of the business, with suggested discounts to include offering a percentage off purchases or services, buy one-get-one free offers.

Service members and family members must present their military identification cards to the business to receive any and all offers. Clipped coupons or discounts will not need to be printed from the website.

All discounts/postings/advertisements must be approved by the Copperas Cove Chamber of Commerce, and final decisions, approvals and/or rejections are at the sole discretion of the Copperas Cove Chamber of Commerce.

Participating Yellow Ribbon Community businesses and organizations will receive a door cling and window poster signifying that they do offer discounts to military service members and their families.

“As a business partner, joining the Yellow Ribbon Community program is fast and simple and there is no cost to your business or organization for participating,” Menard stated. “Businesses that are able to offer a free, discounted, or special service to military service members and their families are added to the list of participating vendors and featured on the chamber Yellow Ribbon Community webpage.”

Business owners must complete a registration form online at http://business.copperascove.com/form/view/18973. Those with questions should contact the Copperas Cove Chamber of Commerce at (254) 547-7571.
