Community invited to annual Eco-Harvest, fashion show

Keep Copperas Cove Beautiful (KCCB) is hosing Eco-Harvest on Saturday, Oct. 18 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.at Ogletree Gap Preserve, 1878 Post Office Road.

This event connects attendees with local experts, educators, and community partners to explore topics ranging from conservation and recycling to wildlife and water quality.

Eco-Harvest will feature interactive demonstrations and educational stations designed to inspire environmental stewardship.

Guests will also get the opportunity to explore the vast Hike & Bike Trail system of Ogletree Gap with guided tours, offering a unique way to learn about the area’s natural beauty and local history.

In addition to the educational fun, guests can enjoy a complimentary hotdog lunch cooked up by the Copperas Cove Rotary Club while supplies last.

Entertainment will include a recycling fashion show beginning at noon, with trophies for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. Fashions will include items that are made of at least 75 percent recycled materials.

Vendors include Muddy Boots 4H, showing off pollinators; Texas A&M Forest Service - Healthy Trees Healthy Lives; representatives from JustServe.org - good stewardship over the earth by engaging in service; the Copperas Cove Community Garden Initiative - Upcycling in the garden - ways to reduce waste by recycling for garden space; MS4 Department-Cove - How stormwater affects creeks and streams, types of pollution, when it rains - it drains, and simple pollution prevention; Guitar Strings, Magazines, and Other Things - art and jewelry made from recycled materials; Scouts Of America Troop 251 – seven Leave No Trace Principals; Lasting Memories Fine Arts Studio - DIY recycled crafts; National Art Honor Society – crafts; National Honor Society - Recycling and paper mache; Copperas Cove Code Compliance; Cen-Tex Sustainable Communities Partnership - recycling obstacle course; Scouts Of America Troop 251 - Take A Hike Booth.

Special guest judges will include Mayor Pro Tem Vonya Hart, Councilmember Dale Treadway, Silvia Rhoads, and Councilmember John Hale.
