City Secretary calls for two elections



At an estimated cost of $6,000 to the city, Interim City Secretay Mariela Altott requested action on Resolution 2014-31, calling for a runoff election between Kirby Lack and Azeita Taylor, to fill the vacancy of Seat 5 of the Copperas Cove City Council less than a week after the votes were officially canvassed in the July 31 council meeting. Early voting is set to begin Aug. 18 lasting until Aug. 28 from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. on the first and last days of the voting period. The polls will open from Aug. 19- 27 starting at 8 a.m. and closing at 5 p.m. Election day is set for Sept. 2 with the polling site open 12 hours from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.
