CCISD summer feeding program starts June 6

The Copperas Cove Independent School District will start its annual Summer Feeding Program next week.

Breakfast and lunch are free for anyone age 18 and under. Adults are also welcome to have breakfast and lunch, with breakfast trays costing $2.50 and lunch trays costing $4.

CCISD Summer Feeding sites include:

  • Fairview/Jewell Elementary School, 710 S. 5th St., breakfast from 7-8:15 a.m. and lunch from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., from June 6-June 24 and July 11-29.
  • House Creek Elementary School, 351 Lutheran Church Rd., breakfast from 7:30-8:30 a.m. and lunch from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., from June 6-June 24.
  • S.C. Lee Junior High School, 1205 Courtney Ln, breakfast from 7-8:30 a.m. and lunch from 11:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., from June 6-June 24.

Local daycare centers, churches, and other organizations can also arrange for breakfast and lunch, and should contact the CCISD Child Nutrition office at (254) 547-1227 .

All meals must be eaten on site and no curbside pickups are available, due to the expiration

of USDA waivers.

CCISD participates in the National School Lunch and Breakfast program, which is administered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the Texas Department of Agriculture.

Any school district that has more than 50 percent of its students on the free and reduced lunch plan must offer a summer feeding program as well. The Texas Department of Agriculture reimburses the district for each kid’s meal.
