CCISD board of trustees honors principals, and say farewell to Bob Weiss

It was a bittersweet atmosphere at the October meeting of the Copperas Cove Independent School Board of Trustees, Tuesday Night, as the Trustees took time to honor CCISD Principals for their hard work, dedication, and commitment to their students. In keeping with the nights theme of recognizing outstanding service the Board also honored and said farewell to Board Member Bob Weiss, whom after 12 years of service to the Board and Copperas Cove ISD decided not to run for another term.
“Mr. Weiss has been a consummate professional above and beyond reproach in his service on this board in bringing real life experience and expectations for our district.” said Burns.
The night began with a short presentation by Glen Graham, Executive Director of Business Services for CCISD, he gave his presentation during the public hearing held before the regular meeting. His presentation was on the Overview of Schools (FIRST) which stands for (Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas), The First rating system is way of seeing if Copperas Cove ISD is being financially responsible. Graham told the Board and members of the community, that for the 11th consecutive year Copperas Cove ISD has an overall first rating of superior.
The regular board meeting got underway at 6:45pm, and after the Pledge of Allegiance, and Invocation, several students were recognized. The first was Michael Bednar who in June 2015 represented Copperas Cove High School and the State of Texas at the Congress of Future Science and Technology Leaders in Boston, Massachusetts. Michael was presented with the Award of Excellence, certifying his successful completion of the Congress. The other students who were recognized were Nicole Huereque, and Artur Savchenko, these students represented Copperas Cove High School and the State of Texas in June 2015 at the Congress of Future Medical Leaders in Boston, Massachusetts. Nicole and Artur were presented with the Award of Excellence, certifying their successful completion of the Congress.
Copperas Cove City Council member Matthew Russell, made a presentation on behalf of Mayor John Hull and the rest of the city council. The presentation was to Recognize October as National Principal Recognition Month, and to recognize all CCISD principals for the amazing job that they do every day. One by one each Principals came up to receive their proclamation award. The principals who were recognized were

The meeting continued as the board approved several measures. The Trustees approved action on the following items.
- Bids for Awards & Incentive Items and Printing Services.
- 2015-2016 Student Health Advisory Committee's (SHAC) Roster of Members.
- License Agreement with the City of Copperas Cove for the Placement and Installation of Wayfinding Signs.
- The Engineering Fees for the Electrical Upgrade of Fairview Elementary School.
- The Acceptance of a Grant from the Department of Defense Education.
- The Employment of a Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) Grant Project Director.
- DoDEA Grant Post Award Meeting, Salt Lake City UT November 16-19, 2015.
- Agreement for Joint Use of Facilities with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Copperas Cove.
- Proposed Revisions to Policy FBA(REGULATION) and the Addition of FBA(EXHIBIT).
- Proposed Increase to Substitute Pay.
- Appointment of an Additional Investment Officer.
- Resolution to Nominate Person(s) for the Board of Directors for Coryell Central
- Appraisal District.
