Saturday, March 31 is the date set for the fourth annual Daddy Daughter Dance at the Copperas Cove Civic Center. The event will take place from 6-9 p.m.
Members of the City of Copperas Cove’s Youth Advisory Council (YAC) have been busily planning this year’s event.
“Proceeds from the event will assist in funding the 2018 Mother Son Dance and 2018 Movies in the Park, as well as next year’s event,” said Nic Cantrell, the city’s Parks & Recreation superintendent.
Advance tickets for the dance are available for purchase at the Parks and Recreation Office for $20 per couple, with $5 for each additional child and $10 per additional dad, with cash payments only accepted. The Parks and Recreation office is located inside the Copperas Cove Civic Center, 1206 W. Ave. B.
Tickets will also be available at the door.
This year, in addition to a DJ and dancing, there will be snacks, raffle prizes, and a photographer.
First held in March 2015, the dance is one of the activities that the YAC holds for kids and families in the community.
The free “Movies in the Park” shown last year included Moana, Zootopia, and Hocus Pocus.
The YAC is made up of youth in the community who apply to the council and are appointed by the Copperas Cove City Council. The YAC was formed to develop activities and programs designed by the youth and also to promote and encourage youth involvement in city government.
The YAC can have up to 30 youth member positions with one adult liaison, who are appointed to two-year terms. They monthly on the first Monday of the month. Eligible youth members must be a student in grades 8-12 and in good standing.
