The City of Copperas Cove is already making plans for opening its pools for the summer season.
City Park and South Park pools typically open Memorial Day weekend, and both are a source of low-cost, local outdoor water activities for residents and non-residents alike.
Daily admission and pass prices can be found here https://www.ccpard.com/content/36006/Pool-Pricing and swimming lesson dates and rates can also be found on the aquatics page.
Parents of 14- to 17-year-olds who want to visit the pool by themselves must complete a waiver form that must be signed and submitted for their youth to spend time at the pool without them.
In accordance with State of Texas regulations, Copperas Cove Parks & Recreation requires all individuals between the ages of 14 and 17 to have a signed Aquatic Waiver completed by a parent or legal guardian before entry into the pool facility.
“Parents can either complete the form at the pool or visit our office to complete the waiver. They only have to complete the waiver once; the staff makes a copy and has it in the office, City Park Pool, and South Park Pool,” said Caycee Hauck, Recreation Superintendent.
By signing this form, parents and their teens understand that appropriate behavior is expected from all participants, members, and guests using Parks & Recreation Facilities at all times.
The form spells out behaviors that are not considered acceptable and could result in their youth being removed from the premises by a CCPARD staff and include a one-day suspension. Another consequence could be that these youth will no longer be able to attend the facilities without their parent present.
The City’s Parks & Recreation social media page had a post that included an additional requirement with the form.
“Due to an increase in incidents involving falsified parent or guardian signatures, additional age verification measures have been implemented. A parent or legal guardian is required to present valid documentation—such as a report card, learner’s permit, or driver’s license—at the time of completing the Youth Aquatic Form to verify the minor’s age.”
Also ahead of the summer season, the City is in the process of staffing seasonal positions for its Aquatics program and is hiring for both it and its Summer Camp programs.
“We are currently seeking employees for the following positions, Pool Manager – Ages 15+, Lead Guard – Ages 15+, and Camp Counselor – Ages 16+,” said Caycee Hauck, Recreation Superintendent.
The City will be hiring one pool manager, four lead guards, 19 lifeguards, three cashiers, two Camp Supervisors, and five Camp Counselors. Cashiers will receive $10 per hour, lifeguards $12, lead lifeguards $13.50 per hour, and Pool Manager $15 per hour.
Camp Cove is enrolling now for kids ages 5 to 10 and is $72 per week per camper. Camps include two snacks and activities during the day. Registration is on a first come, first served basis. The weekly camps start the week of May 25 and go through the week of August 3. Camp drop-offs start at 6:30 a.m. and pick-ups end at 6 p.m. Camp Cove information can be found at https://www.ccpard.com/content/22532/Camp-Cove.
