VFW Post 8577 in Copperas Cove is seeking the community’s help in “adopting” students whose names are on tags on the post’s Angel Tree.

The children’s names are provided from the Communities in School representatives from each campus.

“We welcome the public to come in and take an Angel Tree tag off the tree. The top portion of the tag stays on the tree. The bottom portion should be taken to the bartender so they can record the tag’s number and who is taking the tag,” said Lisa Hunter, Junior Vice Commander.

Unwrapped gifts should be brought back to the VFW post by Friday, Dec. 9, where post volunteers will wrap the gifts. The gifts will then be distributed to the campuses. Those purchasing gifts should keep the Angel Tree tag and attach to the gifts they bring back.

Businesses are also welcome take a name – or names – from the tree. Advance Pain Care in Killeen and Party N Jump in Copperas Cove are participating.

For more information, call VFW Post 8577 at (254) 547-3973. The post is located at 1506 Veterans Ave.
