Youth baseball/softball seasons underway

Copperas Cove youth baseball and softball 2014 season is officially underway – at least practice, anyway. Some 713 participants make up the 55 teams competing this year. That is a four-percent increase from a year ago. Volunteers are also key to the success of youth sports programs and Cove is no different. “Our baseball and softball program utilizes 156 volunteer coaches, which is a challenge but many parents step up to the task,” said Joseph Pace, director of the Parks and Recreation Department.
