Cove speedsters win three gold medals at 2nd annual TTFCA Meet of Champions

WACO – Life is about second chances. Cove seniors Marcus Brumfield and Sean Bedford, along with junior Eric Cain and freshman Shontez Simmons, made the most of their second opportunity by winning three gold medals at the 2nd annual Texas Track and Field Coaches Association Meet of Champions held Saturday at Baylor’s Clyde Hart Track and Field Complex.
After injuries and sloppy conditions derailed their opportunity for gold at the UIL State Track and Field Meet a week prior, Brumfield and the Copperas Cove 4x100-meter relay team got redemption by winning gold in the 100m dash and the 4x100 relay on Saturday for two of their three gold medals on the day to end their 2016 campaign with a bang.
Brumfield raced his way to gold in the 100m dash and set a new Meet of Champions record with a 10.62 mark to win his second gold medal in about 30 minutes.
