No. 25 Cove dominates No. 19 Leander

The Copperas Cove Lady Dawgs returned to the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches state rankings last week with a No. 25 ranking and backed that honor up with a pair of dominant wins this week.

 

The Lady Dawgs began the week with a 60-35 win over Bastrop on the road and backed that up with a 60-40 win over Class 5A No. 19 Leander Friday at home to improve to 12-4 on the season.

 

“It was a good win for us against a good ball club,” said Cove head basketball coach Eldridge McAdams. “They’re ranked in 5A and they’re a scrappy team. I thought we came out and handled their press and stuck to our game plan about 75 percent of the game. We had a few turnovers but it wasn’t bad.”
