    Area athletes pick up medals at TAAF Summer Games and AAU Junior Olympics

    Several area athletes concluded their summer sports season with a little extra bling in their trophy cabinet.
     
    At the Texas Amateur Athletic Federation Summer Games of Texas in McAllen, Zoe Pearson of the Cen- Tex Pacesetters track team a bronze finish in the girls’ 16-and-under 400-meter dash. She raced to a mark of 59.68 seconds to finish third behind Shirmalyn Moore of Galena Park (58.78) and Jordan Brown of Greater Houston (59.21).
     
    Pearson also had a 5thplace finish in the girls’ 16U 800m run with a time of 2:28.30. Bailey Kinney of San Angelo won the event with a 2:19.90.
