WACO – Copperas Cove junior Elle Fox and senior Maddie Miller finished fifth and 11th, respectively, in the 28th annual Marvin Dameron Invitational held over the weekend at the Cottonwood Creek Golf Course in Waco.

Both Lady Dawgs put themselves in the hunt with solid first rounds on Friday and solidified their spot in the top tier with strong showings on Saturday despite brisk, windy conditions.

Fox opened the tournament with a pair of bogeys on holes three and four before paring eight-consecutive holes and bouncing in an Eagle 3 on the 477-yard par 5 hole 13.

After paring 14, Fox had bogeys on 15 and 16 before finishing the tournament with four more pars to finish day two with a two-over 74 and two-day total of 151.

Miller finished with a two-day total of 156 for her 11th-place finish.

Miller opened the tournament with four pars on the first five holes before three-consecutive bogeys put her at four-over-par through eight holes. After two pars and a bogey over the next three holes, Miller got hot with back-to-back birdies on the 477-yard hole 13 and 131-yard par 3 hole 14.

Miller finished with three bogeys and two pars for her second-consecutive round of 78.

Her one-over-pars on the 113-yard hole 4, the 140-yard hole 6, the 348-yard hole 9, the 131-yard hole 14 and the 343-yard hole 18 highlighted Saturday’s round.
