Eight Lady Dawgs selected to 12-6A All-District Softball Team

The Lady Dawgs’ historic season was recently recognized by district coaches with eight Lady Dawgs selected to the District 12-6A All-District Softball Team and a ninth receiving Honorable Mention.

Copperas Cove freshman shortstop Meagan Hunt earned the superlative of Co-Offensive Most Valuable Player alongside Bryan senior catcher Jacque Adams.

The Most Valuable Player award went to Adams’ twin sister and senior pitcher Jessica Adams. The Defensive MVP went to Belton senior catcher Paige Nunes and the Newcomer of the Year selection went to Ellison freshman pitcher/SS Lole Reyes. The Pitcher of the Year was Shoemaker senior Madalyne Martinez and the Coach of the Year went to Bryan’ Enrique Luna.

Cove graduating seniors and battery mates Brooke Schmidt (pitcher) and Alina Salazar (catcher) were named to the 12-6A First Team, along with freshman third baseman Larissa Perez and freshman second baseman Joleeanna Hair.

Joining the four Lady Dawgs on the First Team were: BELTON – sr. McKayla Owens, sr. Bethany Sherwood and soph. Kaylee Jordan; BRYAN – soph. Makayla Marquez, soph. Ariana Williams, jr. Kylie Hernandez, jr. Alexis Rodriguez, and sr. Kaedyn Filburn; ELLISON – soph. Elizabeth Eakin, and soph. Alex Nunez Morales; HARKER HEIGHTS – jr. Rozalyn Simmons, jr. Evan Fuller, jr. Clarissa Gutierrez, and sr. Marissa Stillwell; KILLEEN – jr. Landry Searcy, and soph. Deanndra Jones; SHOEMAKER – jr. Madelyn Morua, and fr. Jaden Crenshaw; and TEMPLE – jr. Chloe Prentiss, sr. Cameryn Stewart, and soph. Lily Wiser.

Cove sophomore outfielder Anissa Amaro and sophomore pitcher/outfeld/catcher Lynsey Robison, along with junior centerfielder Emma Wasiak, were selected to the 12-6A Second Team.

Joining the Lady Dawgs on the Second Team were: BELTON – jr. Esperanza Moreno, and sr. Tristyn Barton; BRYAN – jr. Ailee Freeman, and soph. Maci Ramirez; ELLISON – fr. Kyanna Rogers, and jr. Gwyn Gebert; HARKER HEIGHTS - fr. Nevaeh Brown, and Kadazjah Trimble; KILLEEN – soph. Kendall Gross; SHOEMAKER – sr. Thatiana Gonzales, and sr. Kasia Nelson; and TEMPLE – jr. Elise Munoz, and jr. Alena Salazar.

Cove sophomore first baseman Alejandro Espinoza received an Honorable Mention.
