Copperas Cove track and field competes at Big Red Relays

BELTON – The Copperas Cove Lady Dawgs and Bulldawgs competed in their second track meet of the season on Saturday during the annual Big Red Relays in Belton. 
The Lady Dawgs varsity notched second place finishes in the 4x200-meter relay and 100-meter hurdles.
The foursome of senior Mahal Thorpe, junior Ashli Hawkins, junior Livonna Wallace, and senior Nadia Robinson finished second in the 4x200-meter relay with a time of 1 minute, 49.40 seconds. Odessa Permian took the top spot with a time of 1:44.34.
Thorpe also notched a second-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles with a mark of 15.51 seconds. Belton senior Sela Anderson won the event with a time of 15.12 seconds. She also placed fifth in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 50.41 seconds.
Junior Anayah Copeland finished just off the podium with a fourth-place time of 1:02.52 in the 400-meter dash. She also placed fifth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 27.09 seconds.
The foursome of Hawkins, Mahal Thopre, Wallace and Robinson also finished fifth in the 4x100m relay with a time of 51.41 seconds. 
The junior varsity girls also nabbed some hardware with a second-place finish in the 34x100-meter relay. The foursome of Makayla Davis, Micah Anderson, Olivea Nageeullah and Samaria Bostic ran a time of 53.37 for the silver medal. 
Princess Sprauve finished just off the podium with a time of 13.84 took take fourth in the JV girls’ 100-meter dash.
The JV 4x200-meter relay team of Nageeullah, M. Davis, West and Bostic finished fifth with a time of 1:55.78.
Davis and Anderson also earned fifth place finishes in the field events. Davis finished fifth in the high jump with a mark of 4 feet, 6 inches and Anderson finished fifth in the long jump with a mark of 15-feet-10.
The Cove boys also brought home some hardware from Belton. 
Senior Jaylan Brown led the varsity boys with a third-place finish in the Discus with a throw of 130 feet, 5 inches. Senior Ethan Bratton of Round Rock took the top spot with a throw of 157-07.
Senior Louis Yvel finished just off the podium with a fourth-place finish and time of 53.51 in the 400-meter dash. 
The varsity 4x400-meter relay team of Jaren Key, Amari Snead, Jerome Gaillard and Yvel finished fifth with a time of 3:35.02.
The varsity foursome of A.J. Acosta, Jahmeel Rice, Deayra Corbin and Yvel finished sixth in the 4x100-meter relay with a time of 44.96.
Josiah Key also notched a sixth-place finish in the varsity pole vault with a mark of 12-feet.
The junior varsity foursome of Levi Smith, Cameron West, Isiah Chisolm and Jacorian Frazier earned a bronze medal in the 4x200-meter relay with a time of 1:36.27.
Smith; along with Brandon Jackson, Frazier and Tyrez Reynolds; finished fourth in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:48.15.
The JV foursome of Frazier, Chisolm, Tresean Marri and Elijah De la Cruz finished fifth in the 4x100-meter relay.
