Camp season wraps up next week with volleyball, football camps

Although school is still nearly a month away, next week marks the conclusion of the summer season for many athletes.
The Copperas Cove volleyball and football programs will hold their summer camps for grades 7-9 beginning on Monday to conclude the CCISD summer camp schedule.
The boys’ and girls’ summer pride camps wrap up on Thursday and the fall season officially kicks off for the Lady Dawgs volleyball program on August 12 when they host Georgetown East View.
Practice can begin on August 1 and scrimmages can begin on August 3. The annual Meet the Lady Dawgs night will be held at 6 p.m. on Aug. 5 at Bulldawg Gymnasium.
The Lady Dawgs have matches with Lorena at home and Dripping Springs on the road before their first District 12-6A contest against Shoemaker on Aug. 27.
After a couple more non-district matches at Cedar Creek on Aug. 30 and against Waco in Cove on Sept. 3, the Lady Dawgs return to district action at Harker Heights on Sept. 6 before traveling to Waco to face Midway on Sept. 10. Cove returns home for a district tilt against Belton and a non-district battle with Crawford before returning back to the 12-6A slate where they close out at Killeen on Sept. 20, vs. temple on Sept. 24, vs. Ellison on Sept. 27, at Shoemaker Oct. 1, at Waco on Sept. 4, vs. Harker Heights Oct. 8, vs. Midway on Oct. 11, at Belton on Oct. 15, vs. Killeen on Oct. 22, at Temple on Oct. 25 and at Ellison on Oct. 29 to close out the regular season. Tournaments games may be added to the schedule.
The first day of conditioning for the football program is August 12 with the first day of full contact set for August 17.
The Bulldawgs officially open the season on August 30 at Burleson before returning home to host the Manor Mustangs on Sept. 6 before opening District 12-6A play at home against Belton on Sept. 13. The Dawgs then travel to Killeen on Sept. 20 to face the Kangaroos, they host Ellison on Sept 27, travel to Waco on Oct. 4, host Midway on Oct. 11, have a bye on Oct 18, travel to Killeen to face Harker Heights on Oct. 25, host Shoemaker on Nov. 1 before closing out the regular season at Temple on Nov. 8.
Practice for cross country begins this week and practice for tennis begins next week. No schedules available for cross country and tennis as of press time.
