Sarah Beth Smith

Sarah Beth Smith, 79, of Copperas Cove, passed away January 29, 2022.  She was born February 12, 1942 to AD and Jessie B McDougal in Meridien Texas.

She graduated with a  degree in education from Waylon Baptist University.  She married the love of her life, Edward Smith on January 14, 1967.  They raised three daughters around the world while Edward served in the military.  When they landed in Copperas Cove, she returned to the classroom, where she taught for 23 years until she retired in 2002.

She and Edward were very active in the life of Grace United Methodist Church, where she was part of an Emmaus group and they received the Louis Behrens Churchmanship Award together.  She loved sewing and cross stitching and was a voracious reader.

Beth is survived by her three daughters and their families, Melanie and Curtis Scales and their sons Wesley and Williams Scales; Melissa Brunner and her children Bailey and Caleb Brunner; Georgia and Geoffrey Sanders…and her granddogs and great granddogs.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 2 from 5-7 p.m. at Crawford Bowers Funeral Home, 211 West Avenue B, Copperas Cove, Texas.  Services will be held Thursday, February 3 at noon at Grace United Methodist Church, 101 East Avenue D, Copperas Cove, followed by burial at Central Texas Veterans Cemetery in Killeen.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Grace United Methodist Church.
