A memorial service for Beatrice Irene Banks, 73, of Copperas Cove, will take place on July 23 at 1 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, located at 908 Industrial Avenue in Copperas Cove.
 
She died on July 6. Her body will be cremated.
 
Beatrice was born Jan. 27, 1943, in Portland, Maine, to Franklin Wellington Russell and Corrus Madaline Abbott.
 
While working as a finance in-processing clerk in the Women’s Army Corps, she met her future husband, Purnell C. Banks. They were married on Oct. 14, 1962, in Washington D.C.
 
Beatrice graduated from Freeport High School in Maine, and received an honorable discharge from the Women’s Army Corps-Regular Army. As a military wife, she had the opportunity to visit many places such as Italy, Germany, Georgia, Alaska and Texas. She was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1971, and dedicated many hours in the house-to-house ministry.
 
She is survived by her husband, Purnell C. Banks; daughter, Diana Banks of Aurora, Colo.; sisters, Linda Currey and Judith Whitley and her husband, George, all of Maine; brothers, James Russell and his wife, Carolyn, of Maine and Francis Russell and his wife, Nancy of Florida. 
 
She was preceded in death by her parents and a stepfather, Joseph Paradis.
