The Texas Department of Transportation is still in the planning stages for the expansion of I-14 from Copperas Cove to Lometa.
This month, there will be a series of public meetings regarding a route study that will transform U.S. 190 starting at the intersection of F.M. 2657 and headlined westward.
One of those meetings will be on Monday, June 29, from 5:30 - 7 p.m. in Copperas Cove, at Taylor Creek Elementary, located at 2096 Big Divide Rd.
A brief live presentation will be given at 6 p.m., although the in-person meetings will be held as a come-and-go open house format.
The Copperas Cove meeting is third in the series, with the first In-person meeting to be held in Lampasas on Monday, June 22, from 5:30 to 7 p.m., at Lampasas Middle School, 902 S. Broad St. The second meeting will be held in Lometa on Tuesday, June 23, from 5:30 to 7 p.m., at Lometa ISD, 100 N. Eighth St.
As with prior meetings, in-person attendees will be able to review hard copies of project materials, ask questions of TxDOT staff and consultants present at the meeting.
Attendees will also be able to leave written comments.
All comments must be received on or before Tuesday, Dec. 30, to be included in the meeting summary report.
There is also a virtual option, which is a pre-recorded video presentation that has both audio and visual components and will be posted online at https://www.txdot.gov/projects/hearings-meetings/brownwood/2026/i14-rou… starting Monday, June 22, by 5:30 p.m. and will remain online until Wednesday, July 15.
Those without internet access may call a voicemail, at 325-643-0409, and leave a message to ask questions or request project materials.
Written comments can also be mailed to: TxDOT Brownwood District Office, c/o Brownwood District Planner, 2495 Highway 183 North, Brownwood, TX 76802. Comments can also be sent via email to Interstate14StudyLampasas@txdot.gov.
