Copperas Cove City sales tax revenue slips 1.13%

The state comptroller’s office has released its sales tax revenue report for January 2016, and the city of of Copperas Cove will be seeing a slightly smaller check this month compared to revenue in January 2015.
 
The city will receive a sales tax rebate for of $310,900.91, which is down 1.13 percent from the $314,474.03 it received in January of last year, according to the monthly report released Wednesday.
 
The total amount of sales tax revenue for Coryell County this month is $465,196.30, which is up 0.38 percent from the $463,408.40 it received in January 2015.
 
Gatesville’s sales tax rebate amounts to $153,523.12, up 3.48 percent from last January’s $148,357.32.
 
Texas State comptroller Glenn Hegar said that sales tax revenue for the state in December was $2.33 billion, down 1.1 percent compared to December 2014.
 
“As with the previous two months, December sales tax revenue was down largely due to spending reductions in oil and gas-related sectors,” Hegar said. “This was expected, given ongoing weakness in oil and natural gas prices. Remittances from other sectors, such as construction and information, continued to grow.”
 
Hegar announced he will send cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose taxing districts $617.2 million in local sales tax allocations for January, 0.1 percent less than in January 2015.
 
Kempner is receiving $9,790.57 in sales tax rebates, down 6.01 percent from $10,417.33 it received in January 2015. Lampasas is receiving a total of $138,002.54, up 8.69 percent from the $126,965.54 it received in January 2014. The amount for Lampasas County is up 7.57 percent at $153,695.68 compared to last January’s $142,875.14.
 
Sales tax revenue for Bell County totaled $4,065,308.26, up 2.49 percent from $3,966,352.47 in January 2015. The city of Killeen’s sales tax revenue amounts to $1,631,475.33, up 1.91 percent from last January’s $1,600,756.34.
 
Harker Heights saw a decrease of 1.17 percent with rebates totaling $493,904.66, down compared to last January’s $499,772.31. Belton will receive $340,675.0 in sales tax rebates, down 2.64 percent from the $349,940.78 it received in January 2015.
