Copperas Cove police arrested Ray Charles Davis after a shooting that occurred on Monday evening in the 900 block of North 19th Street.
Officers were called to a residence where a male victim was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, according to a statement from Copperas Cove police. Officers rendered first aid until the arrival of Copperas Cove Fire/EMS. The shooting victim was then airlifted to Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Temple.
Davis was not on the scene, but according to witnesses, Davis was invited to the home for a gathering with friends. At some point, an argument took place between Davis and one of the residents. Davis then fired a pistol inside the house, then left the house and walked to his vehicle. Once outside, he then turned and fired the pistol at multiple people standing outside, striking the victim.
Davis the fled the scene on foot. A citizen called the police department to report a suspicious person walking in the area of Grimes Crossing Road, and the description matched Davis. Officers were able to apprehend him without incident.
Davis was jailed on four charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and bonds totaling $200,000, $50,000 per charge. Copperas Cove police are continuing to investigate the incident.
