Bulldawgs sign to play at the next level

Copperas Cove ISD (CCISD) has a strong tradition of sending student-athletes to the collegiate level, with numerous signings across a wild variety of athletics including football, track, softball, and other sports annually.

A Signing Ceremony was held at Copperas Cove High School Gymnasium was held on Wednesday, May 6, honoring nine student athletes who were signing to various colleges and universities scattered across Texas and the United States. Each athlete was introduced by their respected coach who shared their backgrounds and accomplishments.

Those signing in softball contracts included Brenna Butler who will attend McLennan Community College; Kylee Czaplicki who will attend Houston Christian; and Karelyn Manzano-Morales who will attend Navarro Community College.

The student athlete for wrestling, Makayla Davis, will be attending North Central College in Illinois.

Emili Tacibon, who played girls’ soccer, is signing with Huston Tilloston University in Austin.

Shayla Ludwig, who is a bowler, was signing with McPhearson College in Wichita, Kansas.

A “Copperette” at Copperas Cove ISD, Eva Revilla, signed to study dance at Trinity Valley Junior College in Athens, Texas.

Austin Barrera, a member of the baseball team, signed with Ottawa University in Kansas.

Jaden Polite, who played boys’ basketball, has signed with Palo Alto College located in San Antonio.

Copperas Cove ISD Athletic Director Rodney Southern said, “It’s always a special time for the students. It’s good to see our Copperas Cove kids continuing to the next level. This place has always been special. I think our kids understand it and I know our coaches do.”

He continued, “It doesn’t necessarily matter where you go to play, just go play. There’s only so many opportunities out there. The student athletes are trying to be just the best they can be. It’s exciting for kids, but then again, it’s exciting for the parents as well on signing days.”
