Urquidez selected for All-American Team

The Marine Corps Recruiting Command announced the members of the 2015 Semper Fidelis All-American team with Copperas Cove senior and Baylor University commit  P Urquidez making the 90 man roster for the Jan. 3 contest  to be played in Carson, California.The four-star recruit is a three-year varsity starter, playing  his sophomore year with the Bulldawgs before movingto Washington for his junior year where he helped DeMatha Stags win the WCAC Championship game and was named to the WCAC second team. He is ranked as the 153rd recruit in the nation by ESPN and committed to play for the Baylor Bears during the spring of his junior year after returning to Copperas Cove. The 5th annual contest will be aired on Fox Sports 1 with kickoff to be determined. The Semper Fidelis Football Program demonstrates the Marine Corps’ commitment to developing quality citizens and reinforces its core values of honor, courage and commitment. “The Semper Fidelis Football Program is part of our overall recruiting plan. It was one of th se things we weren’t able to afford early after the sequestration reductions in our  budget,” said Major General Mark A. Brilakis, Commanding General, Marine Corps Recruiting Command. “However, the Commandant has decided that this is one of those premiere events that he would like us to continue and provided the resources necessary to do it.” The Semper Fidelis Football Program is unique because it brings together 90 student-athletes from across the country that demonstrates success both on and off the field. Semper Fidelis All-American’s are selected for being among the toprated high school football players in the nation; however, the   selection process is also dedicated to choosing players based on their character, academic performance and leadership. Other commitments for the contest include Michigan   commit Brandon Peters, a quarterback from Avon Indiana and Tru Wilson a running back from St. Anne Grade School in Warren, Michigan
