Copperas Cove record-setting receiver Phillip Baptiste is tackled after hauling in a 45-yard pass as a freshman for the Trinity Valley Community College Cardinals during their 27-24 win over the Colleyville Community College Red Ravens during Game 1 of the CHAMPS HOT Bowl college double-header Saturday at Bulldawg Stadium. Baptiste’s grab set up the Cardinals at the three-yard line for the game-tying touchdown. The Cards finished their season 12-0 as the third-ranked team in NJCAA.

Texas A&M-Commerce quarterback and HOT Bowl MVP Tyrik Rollison (Sulphur Springs) threw for 460 yards and four touchdowns as theLions dominated the East Central Tigers of Oklahoma in game two of the CHAMPS Heart of Texas Bowl double- header Saturday at Bulldawg Stadium.Backup quarterback Deric Davis added two more touchdown passes as the Lions compiled 613 total yards of offense and 10 touchdowns in the NCAA Division II contest. “It was great to get a win to end theyear for this special group of 29 seniors that helped turn this program around,” said A&M-Commerce head coach Colby Carthel on the teams’ website. “The best two-year turn around in school history is a credit to our players, and especially those seniors. It was a lot of fun tonight, as we brought a lot more than the 60 players allowed for conferencegames, and everyone got to play  tonight.
