Copperas Cove’s Brittany Sanders competes in the 400-yard freestyle relay during the Georgetown Winter Invitational on Saturday. The Cove girls finished in third place with 272 points and the boys finished in sixth with 227 points for a combined fourth place finish with 499 points. The AquaDawgs will travel to Temple this Saturday for the day-long Wildcat Winter Classic at Temple High School. Preliminary races will be held in the morning with finals set for the evening.

The holiday break is a great opportunity to spend quality time with your loved ones and revel in the season’s festivities – but it’s a nightmare for a coach and the competitive athlete. That fact is compounded when there is not a facility readily available for said athletes in which to hone their craft. “We have a disadvantage from the other teams because we don’t have a pool accessible all the time and that kind of stinks,” said senior Laurel Byrd, “but I think with what we have, we make the most of it.”
