Cove ousts Rockwall, faces Horn in Area

By TJ MAXWELL

Aggressive defense and an opportunistic offense guided the Copperas Cove Lady Dawgs to a 3-1 (25-23, 22-25, 25- 22, 28-26) victory over the 11-6A tri-champion Rockwall Lady Jackets Tuesday night at Corsicana High School. “That’s what the playoffs are all about right there,” said Copperas Cove head coach Cari Lowery. “It’s do-or-die, all-or-nothing and nobody wants to lose. For all intents and purposes, that was the first-place team out of that district so that was a good first-round match. You don’t usually get a first-round match like that when you come out the first or second team. That was a great match, we had to work for that so it was good for us.” The Lady Dawgs fought through some mental errors and missteps to finish strong, sparked by a tenacious defense and opportunistic offense.
