Fox making waves on Junior Golf Tour

By TJ MAXWELL Cove Leader-Press Copperas Cove Junior High golfer  lle Fox continues to impress on the junior olf circuit. Fox shot an 89 at the USGA Girls Junior Championships this week at the Gleneagles Country Club in  lano. She finished 24th out of 39 golfers. Fox is coming off a second-place finish at the prestigious Starburst Junior Golf Classic in Waco out of 14 golfers earlier this month with a two-round total of 159 after the third round wash washed out by flooding. She was just one stroke behind girls’ 14 age group winner, Jade Staudt. Fox finished fifth out of 13 golfers at the rain-shortened Lone Star Junior Championship in May with a one-round score of 40. Fox will compete in the IMG Academy Junior World Golf Championships  uly 11-17. The tournament will be spread across 11 courses in the greater San Diego, California area – based from the Torrey Pines Golf Course. The IMG Academy Junior World Golf Championships is the largest international event in the world and is unique for its international re resentation and  cultural diversity. The tournament has had representativesfrom 56 different countries and 42 different states – literally ‘A’ (American Samoa and Argentina) to ‘Z’ (Zambia) and everywhere in between. 1,200 participants are expected to compete in the week-long event that will consist of four 18-hole rounds. Fox has three more stops before Worlds. She will compete in the Beltway Junior Golf Tour(BJGT) tournament this Monday before heading to Llano July 1 for the West Texas Junior Golf Champions Tour and returning to Central Texas for the BJGT tourney at Sammons Golf Course in Temple on July 8. Fox has already picked up two first-place finishes in 2015 and one second-place finish. She finished second of nine at the U.S. Kids Golf Desert Shootout in Phoenix in her third tournament of the 2015 season. She picked up back-to-back wins in Austin on March 29 and April 12 at the Southern Texas PGA Junior Golf tourneys at the Yaupon and Roy Kizer golf courses, respectively
