Former Dawgs join ranks of the athletic elite

As former Dawg multi-sport standout Robert Griffin III is settling in his new Cleveland digs and standout Bulldawg wideout Josh Boyce is making himself at home in his new city of Indianapolis, two more former Copperas Cove Bulldawgs are getting a chance in the National Football League.
 
Former Dawg quarterback and University of Texas cornerback Orlando “Duke” Thomas will get a chance with the Houston Texans after signing as an undrafted free agent following the conclusion of the 2016 draft.
 
Former Cove lineman Cody Elenz is also getting a shot with the Atlanta Falcons after also signing a free agent deal. Elenz played for Idaho before transferring to Lamar for his final year.

Recent graduate Tyler Morrison also got a chance to rub elbows with some faous athletes as she was selected to represent the Southern Texas PGA in the Zaxby’s Junior Pro-Am held May 3 at The Woodlands Country Club.
Morrison was paired with a PGA Tour Champions Professional Mark O’Meara for a nine-hole round. Cove junior high standout Elle Fox will be acted as Morrison’s caddie for the star-studded event.
 
Morrison will play golf for the McLennan Community College Highlassies.

Cove Junior High 7th-grade golfers looking for season sweep
 
The Copperas Cove Junior High golf teams concluded their district slate at the Wildflower Country Club in Temple.
 
The 7th-grade team, led by Elle Fox and Maddy Miller, are looking to complete the season sweep by winning their fifth-straight tournament and Fox is looking for her fifth-straight individual crown.

Cove Spring volleyball league concludes next week
 
The Cove spring volleyball league, sponsored by Lady Dawg Volleyball Booster Club for volleyball players from Grades 3-12, will conclude next Wednesday after eight weeks of action.
 
This year’s league had more than 300 participants. Come out to Bulldawg gymnasium and watch the former Lady Dawgs conclude their spring season. Games are held Monday through Wednesday from 6-9 p.m.
