A host of Copperas Cove defenders, led by Phil Aumua (33), pursue Round Rock quarterback Colin Hinson during the Bulldawgs 26-0 loss to the Dragons Friday at Dr. R.L. Peters Jr. Field in Round Rock.

Dawgs defense plays well in loss

By TJ MAXWELL

Some negatives can surely be gleaned from the Round Rock Dragon’s 26-0 shutout of the Copperas Cove Bulldawgs Friday night at Dragon Stadium. The first shutout in recent memory for an offense that had stat trackers scrambling to keep pace with the offense a year ago and in the season opener against A&M Consolidated is obviously one. The total offense of 173 yards and 2.9 yards per play is a season low and far removed from the 513.5 yards per game and 7.0 yards per play average from a year ago.
