Dawg footballers honored at banquet

Members of the 2014 Copperas Cove Bulldawg football teams were honored and applauded at the team’s annual awards banquet held Thursday night at the Copperas Cove Civic Center. Several peer-voted team awards were handed out to climax the ceremonies. For the first time in 21 years, there was a tie in voting for Offensive MVP, which was shared by Trent Canion and Manny Harris. Jaylen Waters took the Defensive MVP award, while Shamad Lomax was the Special Teams MVP. Canion and Lomax were multiple winners, with Canion taking top Offensive Back and the offensive Dawg Bite nod and Lomax also garnered the top Defensive Back nod. The Superintendent’s Award, which was given by CCISD Superintendent Dr. Joe Burns, went to both John Allen and Jace Leimbach.
