Dawg defense shuts down Consol run game

Many questions loomed in the offseason on how Copperas Cove would perform against the likes of A&M Consolidated and Lake Travis. The questions weren’t about the prolific offense that was among the best in Texas, they were about the defense that surrendered over 36 points and nearly 200 rush yards per game. Some of those questions were answered Friday night when the defense held A&M Consolidated to just 99 yards from six different ball carriers. “We had some adversity in the first half but we came out and fought hard,” said senior captain defensive lineman Tyrell Thompson. “We went in in at halftime and adjusted and came out with the victory.
