ABILENE – The Copperas Cove Bulldawgs showed a nice mix of power, speed and accuracy in their final dress rehearsal before kicking off the 2016 season against A&M Consolidated at home on Friday.

In the controlled part of the scrimmage against the Abilene Eagles at Shotwell Stadium in Abilene on Friday, the Dawgs’ offense showed a power running game and a precision pass game.

“When you scrimmage Abilene, you know it’s going to be a tremendous scrimmage,” said Cove head coach Jack Welch after the scrimmage. “We know we’re going to get tested and we were. I thought our kids played well. The nucleus is a brand new ball club and I thought they responded well.
