Cove XC readies for Regionals

A year after the Copperas Cove country team was finally able to break their postseason drought by sending freshman Amber Boyd to the Regional meet, they qualified both teams and five individual runners to compete at Saturday’s Region II-6A Cross Country Meet at Lynn Creek Park in Grand Prairie. Amber Boyd, Marrisa Thomas, Angel Mullen, Kaylee Steele, and Keturah Taylor qualified as a team. Boyd and Thomas nabbed the individual spots for the girls. Stefani Vassar, Kayla Wilson, Tierra Mendoza, Samantha Parlato and Olivia Rios (manager) will also travel to Lynn Creek Park with the squad. Eldridge McAdams, Cove girls’ cross country head coach, wants his team to take the same approach they would at any other meet and not let the big stage take a toll on them. “We’ve just got to keep our confidence,” said girls’ head cross country coach Eldridge McAdams. “It’s going to be a big time meet and we can’t let that overwhelm us.
