The Copperas Cove Bulldawg basketball program gathered Tuesday at the high school to honor their players for their hard work, dedication and success for the 2014-15 season. As expected, Oklahoma-signee Rashard Odomes ran away with many of the accolades. On top of being voted Top Dawg of the Year and Offensive Player of the Year by his peers, Odomes also garnered the Shooting Percentage award with 58.3 percent. He also pulled down the Rebounder award with a 12.4 per game average and snagged the Steals award with a 2.7 average. Odomes was also recognized for his recent selections to the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches All-Region and All-State Teams. Junior point guard Devante Robinson was voted Defensive Player of the Year by his peers and was dished the Assists crown and the Free Throw Percentage honors. The peer-voted Pace Setter of the Year award went to junior Malyk Thomas and senior Davon Phelps was voted NewCCLP comer of the Year. The J. Rice Award for the highest grade point average went to Jacob Carter. Jylil Rice, Chase Thomas, Robinson and Wyatt Behara were recognized for keeping a 4.0 GPA. The Bulldawgs earned their first post-season win in the program’s history with their 69-57 win over Lakeview Centennial in the bi-district round of the playoffs. The Bulldawgs lose seven seniors to graduation – Jordan Woodberry, Eric Braddock, Chance Smith, Joseph Corpina, Odomes, Tyireke Allen and Phelps.
