The Copperas Cove boys and girls bowling teams continued where they left off last year by earning a pair of wins each to begin the new season in the Texas High School Bowling Club’s Central Texas District. The Lady Dawgs jumped out to a 6-1 lead in match play before Shoemaker rallied back with six-straight points to take a 7-6 lead and up 38 pins heading into the final game of team play. Cove anchor Dakota Stutz picked up a 3-10 split to win the final game 123-84 and the match by one pin, 489- 488. Stutz, who leads the district in average with 213.75, got the girls off to a hot start in game one of match play. She shot a combined 419, 100 pins better than Kayla Henry’s 319. A 208-127 first game gave Stutz a commanding lead and her 211-192 win in game two gave the girls their first point.
