Not one, but two eateries bringing 40-50 jobs are set to open in the Five Hills Shopping Center, one opening in October 2015, the other opening during the late first quarter of 2016. It’s no secret that Jersey Mike’s Subs is coming to the city, but Josie Capozzi, Vice President of Franchise Relations for Jersey Mike’s, provided some updated information on the company’s new store. piled on in-store baked bread. The company touts its fundraising efforts for local communities, having raised nearly $13 million for local charities and distributed more than 1 million free sub sandwiches to help numerous causes. The company also supports Wreaths Across America. The nearly $1 million in support raised since 2012 by the company has helped in efforts such as placing more than 700,000 remembrance wreaths in honor of veterans nationally and abroad, including on the graves of every veteran buried at Arlington National Cemetery in 2014. On the heels of Jersey Mike’s, Copperas Cove will also be getting its own Chipotle Mexican Grill. “Each of our restaurants employ 25-30 people and interested applicants can visit jobs.chipotle.com,” said Danielle Winslow, Public Relations and Communications Manager for Chipotle Mexican Grill, Inc. “I anticipate we will start hiring for this location in early October.” Winslow said the opening date for Chipotle will likely be late in the first quarter of 2016. Known for their made-to-order burritos, tacos and salads, Chipotle’s motto is “Food With Integrity.” The quickservice dining stores also sell the requisite chips, salsa and guacamole, as well as soft drinks, beer, and margaritas. The first restaurant opened in 1993 and there are more than 1,700 Chipotle restaurants nationwide, with at least 200 stores scheduled during 2015 alone. According to a company press release, “Chipotle is seeking better food from using ingredients that are not only fresh, but that— where possible—are sustainably grown and raised responsibly with respect for the animals, the land, and the farmers who produce the food.” The company also established the Chipotle Cultivate Foundation in 2011 to extend its commitment to creating a more sustainable food future. The foundation provides resources and promotes good stewardship for farmers; promotes better livestock husbandry; encourages regenerative agriculture practices; and fosters food literacy, cooking education and nutritious eating. Since its inception, the foundation has contributed more than $3 million to like-minded organizations committed to cultivating a better world through food.
