Stamp Out Hunger set for Saturday

By PAMELA GRANT

Operation: A Taste of Home will be hosting a Stamp out Hunger event this Saturday at Patriot Storage from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. However, the group plans to set up early around 7:30 so that they can serve pancakes for anyone that shows up early. The event is free to anyone who wants to come. “The event is for everyone. We are hoping to feed as many people as we can,” said Eve Delgado, the founder of Operation: A Taste of Home. “There are so many families that are struggling to put food on the table. Some may not have eaten a decent meal in days. So this event is for anyone and everyone. Come out and get a plate of food. We will turn no one away.” The primary goal of the event will be to gather to help feed the community. They seek to reach those who might be struggling. The group said that they will be out there serving food regardless of the weather.Delgado said that she’s experienced hardship herself and knows what it’s like to go hungry and wants to do her best to help make things easier on those in our local community. Stamp Out Hunger hopes to eventually be able to feed senior citizens daily, provide fresh fruits and vegetables to families weekly and help pay for school lunches for below income families. “No one should have to choose whether to pay an electric bill or buy food,” said Delgado. The event serves as the start of Operation: A Taste of Home’s Stamp Out Hunger initiative. The event will be run by volunteers and they are accepting donations to help further their cause. The group will have signup sheets at the event for those who want to help with the group’s cause. Volunteers would help make and deliver food or meals to those who need it. They also accept donations of food. Anyone who would like to donate or volunteer can do so at Saturday’s event.
