Sunday might be the big event for the National Football League, but Senior Ms. Rabbit Fest Edith Natividad hopes her event will have a big turnout tomorrow at Hallmark Lanes, located at 4203 Shawn Dr. in Killeen.

Natividad has organized the Souper Bowl of Caring to raise food and donations for My Brother’s House, the food pantry of the Holy Family Catholic Church.

The cost to bowl is $50 per team of four players or $20 for individual players. This includes three games of bowling, shoe rental and use of a bowling ball.

Bowlers are also asked to bring two non-perishable food items to help stock the pantry shelves. Prizes of movies passes and newspaper subscriptions will be given to the three teams that bowl with the highest scores.

Funds raised and food collected for the Souper Bowl will go to My Brother’s House, and this is the time of year when many food pantries find their supplies starting to dwindle.

In November, My Brother’s House served 1,835 individuals and in December, the number climbed to nearly 2,000 with 1,914 served. No one in need of help was turned away.

“My Brother’s House is unique because not only does the church give food but also furniture if the family is in need of some. They also help with water and electricity bills if an individual has a disconnection notice,” Natividad said. “They ensure people receive their medications and will pay the co-pay to the pharmacy if you don’t have money to get your medicine. Church volunteers come and visit the family that is being helped to minister them and offer spiritual and emotional help as well.”

For those unable to bowl tomorrow, Natividad encourages both businesses and individuals to conduct a food drive and support the cause that way.

She will bring boxes by for donation collections and will pick them up prior to the tournament.

“When you find yourself in the position to help someone, be happy and feel blessed because God is answering that person’s prayer through you,” Natividad said. So please come, join and support the Souper Bowl of Caring, benefiting My Brother’s House Food Pantry.”

To request a collection box or sign up to bowl, visit the church office at 1001 Georgetown Road or email rabbitfestpageant@gmail.com today. Natividad needs to let the bowling alley know how many teams and bowlers to expect tomorrow.
