Rotary club donates 750 dictionaries to third graders

By DAVID MORRIS

Rotarians Kirby and Rebecca Lack provided another tool to sharpen the minds of third graders in the Copperas Cove Independent School District. The duo delivered more than 700 dictionaries to students on two elementary school campuses as part of the Rotary Club’s Dictionary Project on Tuesday morning, with more deliveries this week at other campuses. “When you come across a big word you don’t know in class, look it up in your new dictionary,” Kirby told the students of Williams/Ledger. “Take this home and when your parents use a word that you don’t know, you can look it up and learn the meaning of the word.” The goal of the program is to assist all students in becoming good writers, active reade r s , creative thinkers, and resourceful learners by providing them with their own personal dictionary. The dictionaries are a gift to each student to use at school and at home for years to come.
