Man arrested in Gainesville for attempted murder of Cove woman

At approximately 9:10 p.m., Friday, July 24, Coryell County Sheriff’s Office received a 9-1-1 call in reference to a neighbor being assaulted. The caller relayed that his neighbor had come over and told him that she had been beaten, tied up, and stabbed. Deputies and investigators with the sheriff’s office were dispatched to the 800 block of Greystone Drive which is just north of Copperas Cove off NorthFM 116. EMS out of Copperas Cove  was also dispatched. Upon arriving at the scene, investigators identified the victim as Michele Kissel, age 50. Kissel had numerous injuries to her face and multiple stab wounds to her lower abdomen area Kissel identified her assailant as a male subject that she knew, Shomari Quentin Shaw, age 38. Shaw had taken her bank card along with her  ehicle. Kissel was transported to Metroplex Hospital where she underwent surgery. Ms. Kissel is expected to recover from her injuries. At this point into the investigation the Texas Rangers were called to assist in the investigation. Warrants were obtained for Shomari Quentin Shaw for Attempted Murder, Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle and Theft.  Through investigation it was learned that Shaw was possibly heading to Missouri, where he had family. Agencies in North Texas were notified and at approximately 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 25, Gainesville police observed the victim’s car, and the vehicle was stopped. Shomari Quentin Shaw was then arrested and transported to the Cooke County Jail where he isbeing held at this time under bonds totaling $180,000. The investigation is still ongoing into the events that occurred uring this incident
