Chamorro community holds 70th Guam liberation celebration.

On July 21, 1944, 16 year old Lucy Sayas felt joy and relief, along with the rest of the island of Guam, upon learning the U.S. Marines arrived and her island home was free at last after several years of occupation by the Japanese. On Saturday, Sayas joined hundreds of family and friends from the Central Texas chamorro community as they filled up the Ogletree Gap pavilion and surrounding grounds for the 70th anniversary celebration of the liberation of Guam.
