Fire dept. answers call to engage summer readers

By DAVID MORRIS

In an effort to engage the children of the city during the summer months, the Copperas Cove Public Library called upon the Police and Fire Departments to display their big trucks to a handful of 6-11 year olds Tuesday afternoon. Opening the trucks, ambulance and squad cars to the active minds local readers were able to climb in and try out the equipment used by the emergency responders on a daily basis. “This is a great way to grow the relationship with the children of Cove, and allows them to know who we are,” firefighter Brad Kammer said.
