The Copperas Cove Buyers Club is holding a Vegas night tomorrow at the Copperas Cove Civic Center from 7-11 p.m.

The evening is a fundraiser to benefit the Copperas Cove 4-H and FFA students, and funds will be used to support the students at the annual county fair in January.

“Events like these have been very successful in other communities, so we’re hoping it’ll catch on here in Copperas Cove,” said Amy McAnally.

Tickets are $40 each or a table of eight for $300. In addition to a meal, drinks and dancing, there will be a silent auction, prizes and drawings, with “winnings” from the Vegas-style tables to be used toward tickets for the drawings.

During the evening, cards will be sold for a chance to win a Colt Mustang pistol, a 1911 style frame in a .380 caliber.

Tickets will be available at the door, or can be purchased ahead of time by contacting Gretchen McWhorter at 254-681-2946 or emailing copperascovebuyersclub@gmail.com.

The Copperas Cove Buyers Club is a 501(c) non-profit organization that raises money to bid on the projects of Copperas Cove FFA and 4H students that qualify for the auction at the annual Coryell County Youth Fair.

Come fair time in January, the club hopes to have funds ready to bid—and bid high. The annual auction is a way for students to fund their project for the next year. Without the Buyers Club’s support, many students wouldn’t be able to continue their livestock projects.

This year, Copperas Cove FFA students had agriscience fair entries that placed in the top 10 in state, with three of the FFA members receiving their Lonestar degree, the highest degree given at the state level.
