Area groups to observe Memorial Day in Cove

This weekend and on Memorial Day, several groups in Copperas Cove will be remembering the fallen who gave their lives in service of the United States of America.
 
On Sunday at 10:30 a.m., Holy Family Catholic Church will hold a Memorial Mass for deceased Catholic war veterans. The church is located at 1001 Georgetown Rd.
 
St. Martin’s Episcopal Church will be dedicated their Veterans’ Memorial Garden on Sunday, May 29, when they will unveil a five-foot-tall Celtic cross with an inscription.
 
All are invited to light a candle to honor a deceased veteran. There will be a reading of the honor roll with Taps being played. The ceremony will be held directly after the 11 a.m. service with light refreshments afterward. The church is located at 1602 S. F.M. 116.
 
On Memorial Day at 10 a.m., members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8577 will gather for a ceremony at the Copperas Cove cemetery. All are invited to attend. A hot dog lunch will follow at the post, located at 1506 Veterans Ave.
 
Then at 2 p.m., Star Group – Veterans Helping Veterans will hold its annual wreath laying at the group’s headquarters, located at 202 S. 4th St.
