Two days, 12 pieces of music, 8 hours of rehearsal, 400 contenders and 176 available slots. That means more than half of the junior high students did not make the cut to perform this weekend. Copperas Cove ISD’s Lea Ledger Auditorium hosted the Texas Music Educators Association’s Region 8 All-Region Clinic and Concert Friday and Saturday. More than 400 students from middle schools in Lampasas, Copperas Cove, Killeen, and Holland vied for 176 spots in three concert bands. Between Friday night and the Saturday concert, each band rehearsed three to four pieces of music, which the students had never played before, for nearly eight hours.
