FIRST report shows superior achievement

The Copperas Cove Independent School District held a public hearing Tuesday evening, as Executive Director of Business Services, Glenn Graham, reported on the results of the district’s Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas, or FIRST, rating. “We submit the information to them in January, and in September or October we get a report on our financial solvency,” said superintendent Joe Burns. The Texas Education Agency, or TEA, developed the rating system in 1999 as required by the Texas legislature to evaluate districts annually for financial solvency as well as to assess the quality of financial management of Texas public schools.
